Guidelines for MCP IPA Reward For Participation Education Criteria

Educational programs for Reward For Participation (R4P) point award must be sponsored/initiated by either RMHP, MCP IPA or a member physicians.

Ideas/concepts/projects may originate from either MCP IPA physician members or IPA Governance. Education programs must present information that will increase efficiency and quality of medical care in this community.

Reward for Participation points (R4P) will not be available unless pre-approved by the PRC. Points for R4P at the SMHMC Tuesday morning Medical Education programs and CH Friday morning Medical Education programs will be listed when available.

Programs for R4P approval must be located in Mesa County and open to all Mesa County physicians.

Topics must serve the MCP IPA Strategic Goals:
- To improve the affordability and efficiency of quality health care in this community
- To supply the information technology infrastructure to our members that will support integration of services between healthcare provider
- To provide patient education about quality services and cost effective choices that promote informed medical decision making
- Promote programs that enhance Evidence Based Medicine
- Support community wide initiatives for quality management of acute and chronic disease states
- Approval for point awards for programs/projects must be obtained in advance from the PRC.
- Application for approval of programs/projects may be submitted electronically on the Reward for Participation form found on the MCPIPA.org website or in writing on the Reward for Participation Educational Points Application.
- Proposals for Quality Project approval for R4P Point awards should be submitted to the PRC for review no later than 10 days prior to their monthly meeting for inclusion on the agenda.
- In lieu of PRC, conditional approval may be obtained from the IPA Executive Committee.
- Payment for education points will be the month following each quarter for participation in programs that occurred within that quarter. There will be no retroactive payments. Education points must be submitted by the last date of the quarter they were attended.
- Reward for Participation (R4P) points are not applicable to programs attended for Specialty Board re-certification. Points are available for programs presented to the local medical community based on knowledge obtained from attendance at education programs attended outside of Mesa County and/or for re-certification.
- The following criteria apply to the evaluation of education programs:
- The purpose of the presentation should not be to generate referrals
- The program should not present a conflict of interest
- The program should not encourage use of certain equipment, drugs or facilities that generate revenue for the presenter or sponsor
- Points will be compiled by the MCPIPA office from attendance sheets at MCPIPA and RMHP sponsored programs, and from PRC approved applications.

Back to top Guidelines for MCP IPA Reward For Participation Quality Project Submission Proposals for Quality Project approval for Citizenship Point awards should be submitted to the PRC for review no later than 10 days prior to their monthly meeting for inclusion on the agenda.
- Proposals for consideration should include :
- Brief written project description or executive summary
- Resource projection - to include a list of MCPIPA member physicians participating with the time each has/will invest in the project.
- Project timeline
- Process for bringing/reporting outcomes back to the MCPIPA member community/specialty group/community
- Proposals for Quality projects should be submitted to the PRC
- 10 days prior to the monthly PRC meeting
- Electronically by application form on MCPIPA.org website or on R4P Quality Project Application form
- Payment for Quality points will be the month following each quarter for participation in programs that occurred within that quarter. There will be no retroactive payments. Quality points must be submitted by the last day of the quarter they were initiated/completed.
- Quality projects should meet one or more of the following criteria
- Improve efficiencies and quality in patient care delivery
- Promote/support Evidence Based Medicine
